...and now what? |
2007-01-02 - 6:17 p.m. I weep for the lack of math skillzz From my weekend adventures: I was in line to buy something to eat at a food court at an airport on Sunday. The girl in front of me (probably in her early 20s) bought her food, paid with a $10 bill, got her change, and started to leave. The cashier (another girl in her early 20s or possibly late teens) started to ring me up. The girl in front of me checked her change, and said to the cashier, "Um, didn't I give you a ten?" She rang me up so she could open the drawer, and handed the girl a dollar. I didn't feel it was my place to speak up and say, "Excuse me, I'm really old, and when I went to school, they forced us to learn to count and make change just by doing math in our heads. Might I be of some help here with my antiquated abilities?" Really. I weep. |
