2004-01-18 - 3:01 a.m. Liar, liar Following up on the gossip question, and on the general theme of why do people do things... Why do people tell outright lies, directly to people who they know will KNOW they are lying? And sometimes they go the extra step of telling the lie in front of other people, and asking the person who knows they are lying, to confirm that the lie is true. Is this just begging to be outed as a liar, or what is the thought process here? It seems that they're desperate to get attention, and not only that, but to get ALL the attention. If something bad happens to you, something worse happened to them. If something funny happened to you, something funnier happened to them. But the part that really baffles me is the part where they tell the lie to people who were THERE and KNOW it did not happen. Kinda pitiful. |
